Truesdell Animal Care Hospital and Clinic

Accreditations & Certifications

Truesdell Animal Care Hospital is proud to be one of Madison Wisconsin’s most trusted veterinarians, thanks to our range of certifications and accreditations, including AAHA-Accredited, Fear Free Certified, and Cat Friendly. If you’d like to understand more about how each of these accreditations affect your pet’s care, please feel free to reach out to us.

AAHA-Accredited

Our hospital has been accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) since 1997. This prestigious distinction is a reflection of our commitment to superior animal medicine, patient care and client experience. Less than 15% of veterinary facilities in the country can say they are AAHA accredited, and we are proud to be among the few!

In order to become an AAHA-Accredited hospital, our practice must meet the highest possible veterinary quality standards in a range of areas including patient care, pain management, and organizational qualities like communication and record-keeping.

Cat Friendly Practice

Truesdell Animal Care Hospital and Clinic became a Certified Cat Friendly Practice in 2015, and has been constantly re-evaluated ever since.

It's important to us to create a calm, non-threatening environment for all of our patients. We understand that veterinary visits can be especially stressful for cats. As a certified Cat Friendly Practice, our clients and feline patients can always count on a cat-friendly visit the moment they walk through our doors.

WHAT IS A CAT FRIENDLY PRACTICE?

The American Association of Feline Practitioners instituted the Cat Friendly Practice program in an effort to maximize the quality of care provided for cats by making veterinary visits less stressful, supporting continuing education in practice, and training doctors and staff in cat behavior, the unique needs of feline patients, and gentle handling techniques.

HOW CAN I BENEFIT FROM CHOOSING A CAT FRIENDLY PRACTICE?

More Positive Veterinary Visits

All pets benefit from regular wellness visits and preventive care. However, cats visit the vet much less frequently than dogs, and this is often due to the stress of coming in for a check-up. We're sensitive to your cat's temperament and distinct healthcare needs, and never want them to miss an important visit, service, or treatment that will contribute to their lifelong wellbeing.

Stress-free Hospital Environment

Our facility meets specific standards for cat care and hospitalization. Some cats are easily stressed by unfamiliar sounds, smells, people, and other pets.

Gentle Handling

Our doctors and staff receive extensive training in feline behavior and body language. We are able to recognize subtle facial and behavioral cues that may signal fear, stress, sickness, and/or pain. This allows us to better understand how your cat is feeling, so we can handle them in a gentle and empathetic manner. This heightened awareness also allows us to create wellness plans that fully address your cat's healthcare needs.

We are educated on the most recent research and guidelines. With greater feline expertise, our doctors and staff are able to offer clients valuable resources and advice to keep their pet happy and healthy.

Fear Free Certified

We're Fear Free Certified because we value our patients' emotional wellbeing to the same degree as their physical wellbeing. The Fear Free initiative transforms the veterinary visit experience for pets and pet owners by creating a warm, stress-free hospital environment and using gentle handling techniques.

The Fear Free training and certification program was developed by world-class experts in pet behavior, training, boarding, and much more. It extends from how we interact with your pet to the way our office is set up to minimize stress for your best friend. Want to learn more? Just ask one of our team members!
