Laser Therapy

Truesdell Animal Care Hospital and Clinic - Pet Laser Therapy

Pet laser therapy is a very gentle treatment that creates a calming effect with the warmth it generates. It does not require medications, sedation, or surgery. Using only a beam of infrared light, the laser heals the body at the cellular level, repairing damaged cells and boosting cell activity in injured areas.

If your pet has a chronic problem, they will probably need multiple treatments to see improvement. Acute conditions may only need one treatment.

Conditions We Can Improve with Our Therapeutic Laser

Some of the conditions to which we can apply laser therapy include:

  • Arthritis
  • Muscle and ligament injuries
  • Inflammation resulting from bone fracture
  • Lick granulomas
  • Abscesses
  • Chronic ear infections
  • Gingivitis
  • Surgical incisions (spay/neuter, dental, etc.)
  • Wound healing

We can apply laser treatments to a wide variety of health conditions to pets of virtually any age and size. We cannot use laser therapy to treat patients that have or may have cancer. Call us at 608-244-2555 to schedule an appointment today.

Diagnosis

A diagnosis is the first step towards healing.

At times, we can make a diagnosis simply by looking at your pet's skin and symptoms, however, further examination may be necessary in some cases. If so, we commonly analyze blood samples, skin scrapings, biopsies and cultures to pinpoint the exact cause of discomfort. With the help of our in-house lab, we can promptly and accurately identify what is ailing your pet.

Finding a Cure

Based on your pet's diagnosis and the complexity of their condition, we will develop a personalized treatment plan to work towards a cure. This may consist of a simple topical cream, or we may have to combine multiple treatment methods to see what works best for your pet. Allergies are a bit more difficult to manage, so it is best to pay close attention to your pet's symptoms and the seasons.

  • Contact allergens: parasites, grass & weeds, household cleaning supplies
  • Air-borne allergens: pollen, dust, dust mites, mold spores, weeds & grass
  • Food allergens: protein sources (chicken, pork & beef), wheat & grains

Cardiology

Your pet's heart is something to treasure.

If your pet suffers from a condition of the heart and circulatory system, our doctors are here to share their expertise in protecting your pet's special heart with cutting-edge diagnostics and treatments for common heart conditions such as heart murmurs, heart arrhythmia, congestive heart failure and congenital cardiac disease.

Your pet's heart cannot wait. In most cases, we are able to analyze and share results with you the same day. Our doctors are prepared to diagnose your pet using cardiac blood markers and echocardiography, and by evaluating abnormal heart shape or size, electrical impulses and heart rhythms, and heart performance. Based on your pet's diagnosis, we will design a specialized treatment plan to meet your pet's specific needs. Before beginning treatment, we will always discuss the benefits and risks with you.

If you notice any of the following symptoms, your pet may be experiencing a cardiac condition:

  • Difficulty Breathing
  • Coughing
  • Weakness
